I got the pleasure of making the signs for the wedding and had a blast.
I know I mispelled chicken breast, but I fixed it prior to the wedding lol.

The First Kiss as a married couple.

Loved being apart of this wedding especially since I was there in the beginning for their first date at sophomore year homecoming.  I have known Ashley since the 6th grade through playing basketball together and being stuck at the hip.  We were inseparable throughout middle and high school and I am so thankful for her in my life.  Thank you Ashley and Trevor for letting me be apart of your special day.  Such a fun wedding and such a special couple!

My mom and I made felt pumpkins.

Spent time with Rudy while working from home.

Celebrated my dads birthday.

Have been traveling all over Western Washington, even taking ferries to recruit students to the University of Idaho.

Being a Young Life leader at costume club and sharing Jesus with middle schoolers.

Leading with Katie who is awesome.

My fall has been extremely busy, but it is my favorite time of year.  What has your fall been like?

Bedroom Transformation: getting items on a budget

How to get brand name items on a budget:

-Look at sales & ads.  Depending where the item is that you want to purchase.  I am not a pro, I would be patient for the item I was certain I wanted and would check online.

-Second hand.  Check out local goodwills and second hand stores to see if they might have your item there.  Go back again, find out when they get certain items and when those tags go on sale.

-Budget for it.  That way, if you wait and save for it, it means you really want it or know it is worth it.

Backstory on our bedroom transformation: I am obsessed with the color yellow and found that Target has a whole line just for me.  Well, probably not just for me, but I can feel that way.  The Threshold Target brand.  I have been wanting to change our bedroom colors for awhile now and have been obsessing over the yellow and grey color scheme.  Our bedroom walls were a neutral brown and a very bright lime green.  Our wedding colors were dark mocha brown and lime green and I had wanted a lime green wall since we got married in August 2009.  We lived in over 4 apartments from 2009-2011 and I never got the chance to paint one.  We had the lime green curtains and brown down comforter covers.  Well, when we moved into our new home in June 2012, I finally got to paint a wall lime green.  Once it was painted, I immediatley, regretted that decision.  But the stubborn and cheap person I am, had left it.  It is very bright, and I was afraid to put anything on the walls for a long time, so that did not help ease the color.  But now, I got my lime green fix and needed a change.  It has been slowly, since we are still on Dave Ramsey Budget and my furniture/house decorating fund is only $15.00 a month.  You might be thinking, what the heck can you buy for that?  Not much, but you see, I have to wait and really want something bad enough and save each month.  So after 4 months I have $60.00.

The lime green wall and brown duvet cover.

Lime green wall touches the subtle brown wall.  Luckily, I only had one lime green wall.

I was able to get my grey/cream chairs when they were on sale at Fred Meyers.  That was my first purchase with the furniture budget.  It took a LONG time lol.  But it was worth it, instead of buying cheap things each month, I save and really ask myself, is this worth it?  And those chairs were.

My dad helped me pick them up in his truck at Fred Meyer.

Rudy really loves the chairs too.

Above: Target Threshold brand yellow quilt from the Goodwill.

Now, I have been drooling about Target's Threshold brand, but was like, no way can I afford it.  I was at the goodwill and they had the comforter above, but in a quilt for $11.00 dollars.  Technically, it was $20.00, but there was some sale going on with the color tag it was and I was so excited.  It was used, but not abused and I had been looking for a quilt for our bed.  Our down comforter gets so hot with Sean and I, especially in the spring and summer.  But all the quilts I looked at where at least $60.00 and I was not willing to pay that.  And the waiting and also searching paid off.  I got it and it was from Target!!! And the Threshold brand in yellow.  I searched online to see what the original price was and they do not sell it anymore!  I also found a yellow panel curtain the same day and it was half the cost of the Threshold brand in Target (the exact same one, but at the goodwill, score!).  I now had one panel and needed three more.  So with my $15 a month budget, I had some saved and had to wait one more month to get the other three and my bedroom was starting to transform.

Threshold™ Paisley Window Panel - I have been looking for a mustard yellow curtain panel for a while... 30 bucks each.. shall we splurge? We'll wait for a sale..
Paisley yellow Threshold Target curtains.

I would randomly (or maybe twice or three times a week) look online at Target to see if the duvet cover for the Threshold brand ever went on sale.  And persistence pays off as I was on there and it was $15 off one day, I checked with my furniture budget, and husband since I needed more money to pay for it and we purchased the duvet.  I even got an extra $10 target gift card for buying it.  I did borrow some money from my personal spending money, because I was so excited and had to have it.  So, our bedroom was officially decked out in yellow paisley Threshold Target brand curtains, and two bedspreads.

Transformation from Lime green to Grey:

The grey is more of a brown/grey which fits with the other three brown walls.  The color is Sherwin Williams fawn brindle.  I found a $10 coupon online if you spent over a certain amount on the Sherwin Williams website.

Finally, my bedroom is finished and I love it.

Thanks for stopping by!

First Burlap LOVE Banner

I am trying to use my craftiness more lately.  I have been wanting a LOVE banner on my headboard that was made from our old fence that fell down.  Read how the fence headboard was made here.  I decided to finally sit down and make the banner myself.  I was really proud of how it turned out.  I chose white instead of black letters to make it a little more warm on the wood.  I love it, get it?!  I have made a lot more burlap banners since I wrote this post and I am excited to share them with you and that I have improved with every banner I make.

Friends, thanks for sticking with me since I haven't posted in a while.

I am a Young Life Leader

I lead Young Life at Brier Terrace Middle School where I attended in middle school.  It is a blast to hangout with 7th grade girls, go to their sporting events, live life with them and share Jesus.  Middle Schoolers listen to every word you say, and it is really cool to see them grow up and also to see how they view the world.  They make me laugh and my heart gets bigger and bigger every time I am around them.  Tonight, I got to give a club talk where I shared about my life and something that I have learned from Jesus.  Tonight I talked about when I was in the 8th grade and I broke my collar bone while playing soccer.  I talked about how a girl fouled me so hard that when I fell, it broke.  I talked about how I couldn't play soccer, which was my life at the time for two months and how I wanted to retaliate.  I then talked about what Jesus says about when people hurt or wrong you and what you should do.  It was really cool sharing about Matthew: 5:38 and how back then people would do "eye for eye and tooth for a tooth" and sharing with the kids that even though that girl fouled me and broke my collar bone, I should not in return brake hers.  But that Jesus tells us to do the opposite in Matthew: 5:39: "Do not resist an evil person.  If anyone strikes you on the right cheek, you should turn to him the other also."  It is a hard lesson to learn and even for adults to consistently think before we react when people do wrongly to us.  It is very difficult.  And without Jesus, there is no way, I could not retaliate for everything bad that has been done to me or my friends and family.  I am very thankful that I have Jesus in my life.

Here is a picture of me and some leaders at neon club.  It is a lot of fun dressing up to each theme.  This was earlier this fall.

Thanks for letting me share this incredible joy that I have in my heart with you.

Valentines Day

I saw a picture of a pug with a heart on them like this floating around on facebook and knew I had to try.  Rudy did awesome with it on him in the kitchen watching his daddy cooking.  Rudy is a sucker for food.  But when we tried it later on the couch, it was very difficult as he was not interested.  These shots are priceless and make me laugh every time.

Sean made this delicious fettuccine alfredo (my all time favorite dish) and salad.  We had a nice cozy night in for Valentines Day and it could not be more perfect.  This was our 7th valentines together.  1 while dating, 1 while engaged and 5 being married.  Crazy!!!

Hope you all had a Happy Valentines Day!!!
