Rudy

Sean and I were only married 3 months and he already wanted a dog!  Not only a dog, but a puppy!  I helped with my sister’s dog Bongo and knew that taking care of a puppy, let alone a dog, was a lot of work.  His family had a dog outside that they only fed once a day and then took on walks.  He did not understand that in the dead of winter the puppy would need to stay inside and we were both going to school and working.  I kept saying no, we need to be married for over a year, we have a lot to learn about each other.  At the time we lived on campus at Washington State University in family housing and would have to move to get a dog.  I liked walking to work and to my grad classes.  It was going to start snowing and I hated driving in the snow.  We would also have to pay for a parking permit.  How was getting a puppy a good idea?  He kept asking for two more months (December now) and he finally gave up and said, “alright, we can wait”.  Well, then I felt so bad and selfish because he really really really wanted a dog so I gave in and we started looking.  Not only looking for a dog, but for a new place to live.  It turned out to be the best decision we have ever made.  We moved into a cozy one bedroom barn house turned into an apartment which I loved!  It was really cramped, but amazing!  We also got the best bundle of joy one could ask for.  Rudy was a lot of work in the beginning to play with in the middle of the night and to let out to go potty, but Sean and I learned a lot about ourselves (parenting styles) and grew together.  Rudy is like my little boy and I love taking care of him.  And who knew that dogs could cuddle and sleep with you under the covers?  I know I am WAY too obsessed with this little guy but I cannot help it.  I heard that once you get a pug you become a crazy dog person and its true.  I treat him like a son and would not change it for the world.
