Welcome Baby Colton

Yesterday was such a beautiful day!  I woke up at 4:30 am to the buzzing of my cell phone.  It was on vibrate, and for some reason I heard it.  I think it was the Lord waking me up, because I never wake up for anything!  It was Zack Sapp calling to say that Sonja was in labor.  I was so excited and woke Sean up saying we have to go!  I think that Zack and Sonja were more calm than I was.  I was so proud of Sonja, she did such a good job throughout the whole labor.  I was in the room when she had Colton and it was such a miracle.  I cried, it was so beautiful.  He is just perfect.  Little baby Colton.  She had him at 6:11 am.  She was only in labor for about three hours, such a blessing it was not longer than that!  He was 6 lbs and 13 ounces.  I love holding him!  I will never forget this moment for the rest of my life.

"Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him" -Psalm 127:3.

I am an auntie :)

Fill in the Blank Friday

Play along with Lauren at: The Little Things We Do...

1.   My most prized possession is my wedding ring.  It is the nicest

thing I will ever have in my life.  My husband chose the ring and

really did his research, it is beautiful and reminds me of the

promise we made to each other on August 9, 2009.

2.  If I could be one age for the rest of my life, I would want to be

22-30, because I got married at 22 and ever since then it has

been beautiful.  I finished my masters degree, so done with

school now, have a real job and am married to the most amazing

man ever!  We also got Rudy and I know we are getting more

blessed each and every day.  I love where we are at now and look

forward to the years to come.

3.  The best way to spend a weekend is  with my husband and Rudy

hanging out at home and watching a movie.  Just being lazy and

enjoying each other.  If it is nice outside going for a run or to

the dog park J.  Of course, to top off the weekend going to

church on Sunday and seeing all of our friends.

4.  My outlook on life is  is to love everyone like Jesus loves them.

It is hard sometimes, but I want to live my life being a better

person to my husband, to Rudy, family, friends, and even to

people that do not know me.

5.  If you want to annoy me, just   gossip about people and make fun of

people for not physically being beautiful, how shallow people can

me ;(  Also, if you complain about your life constantly, I hate

it when people are so negative all the time.

6.  I am completely defenseless when it comes to  chocolate and cookies .
7.  When dressing for the day one should wear sweatpants all day long
J or like me when you get home from work in less than 20 sec be
out of your dress clothes and into sweats and an athletic tshirt.

Have a great Friday!

Gods Love

I am still reading the book Captivating and every time I read it something new is being revealed to me as a woman and as a child of God.  Below is an exert from Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge:

In the spacious love of God, our souls can lie down and rest.  This love from him is not something we must struggle for, earn, or fear to lose.  It is bestowed.  He has bestowed it upon us.  He has chosen us.  And nothing can separate us from his love.  Not even we, ourselves.  We are made for such a love.  Our hearts yearn to be loved intimately, personally, and yes, romantically.  We are created to be the object of desire and affection of one who is totally and completely in love with us.  And we are.  An intimate relationship with Jesus is not only for other women, for women who seem to have their acts together, who appear godly and whose nails are nicely shaped.  It is for each and everyone one of us.  God wants intimacy with you.  In order to have it, you , too, must offer it to him (p. 122).

I just love that.  God loves us and we will never lose that love.  He has chosen me and you.  We do not have to have it all together every day or one day, he still loves us.  But we have to be willing to accept his love and love him back.  We must be willing to give up our agenda or things that we choose to fill the void in our hearts and lives and let God fill that void, He is the only one who can, just let Him.

I was listening to this song tonight and just fall in love with God over and over again, I get goosebumps.  It is I Can Only Imagine by MercyMe.  Just turn off the lights, light a candle or just sit in silence, turn your phone off and enjoy Him.

Thanks for listening,

Hayley

Sean's Baptism

Kathryn and Sean

Sean and I

Kathryn, Laurie, John, and Javin (in our care group)

Sean has been a christian since his freshman year of college, but has never been baptized.  This was really special for him and for our family.  He is saying that he believes in Jesus Christ and that Jesus died on the cross so he could be saved.  Sean is born again, once he comes out of the water.  Kathryn, a woman that goes to our care group also got baptized, it was one amazing night for Jesus!

Baptism  is significant in that it represents the forgiveness and cleansing from sin that comes through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Purpose of Baptism:

Water Baptism identifies the believer with the Godhead – Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19 (NIV)

Water Baptism identifies the believer with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.
"For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to a new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.” Colossians 2:11-12 (NLT)

“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4 (NIV)

Festivities of St. Patricks Day

We had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day at the Beckman household.  I cooked corn beef and cabbage with red potatoes and homemade soda bread.  SO GOOD!!!  I cooked the corn beef in the crock pot all day and then added the cabbage and cooked the red potatoes on the stove.  When it was getting closer to dinner, we switched the corn beef and cabbage into the pot on the stove to cook faster and then added the red potatoes into the crock pot (see pics). We had Zack and Sonja and Mitzi over for dinner and played some games.

Here is the recipes:

Buy corn beef from local grocery store:

-wash and rinse meat (will be slimy)
-put in crock pot, cover with water, so no meat is showing
-add packet of spices (located with meat when you buy it)
-low heat for 8 hours

cut up potatoes very small
-add potatoes into crock pot after 8 hrs, turn crock pot on high

One hour before add cabbage (cut cabbage into 1/8 portions)

Make soda bread:

You will need:
2 cups flour
1 1/2 t. baking powder
3/4 t. salt
1/4 t. baking soda
1 cup buttermilk or 1 tbsp lemon juice with 1 cup milk.

mix four ingredients and add buttermilk to make dough soft.  Kneed 1 minuted with flour on surface (I used a cutting board).  Shape into a circle and make an X with a knife over the top.  Put on a greased sheet at 350* for 40 minutes.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I love March 17th!  Some people have no idea why this is so special, but it is St. Patrick's Day!  My maiden name is Henry and of course I am Irish from my dad's side.  We are very proud of our heritage.  I even have a three leave clover tattoo.  Every year my mother makes Irish soda bread, corn beef and cabbage with red potatoes.  Last year was my first year away from home being married, so I had to make my own.  I had my corn beef in the crock pot and it turned off while I was at work.  I was so sad, Sean was a good sport and ended up eating with me at 8 pm with tough corn beef, when it is literally supposed to melt because it is so tender.  He even let us watch Far and Away with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, a classic.  This year, at 7 am I had the corn beef in the crock pot and hope it will turn out!  I am all decked out in green, and getting a little made fun of at work because people either forgot about today or did not care.  Regardless, I am still having a blast!  I have to share a really funny story when Sean and I were dating and he came to visit my family for his first real St. Patrick's Day dinner.  I knew we had to pull a prank on him before he really was apart of our family.  So I talked with  my family and they were all in on it.  This is what happened:

My mom was preparing dinner and my sister and I were setting the table.  Once the table was set and all the food was on it, we took the chairs one by one and moved them into the living room so all that was left was a table with food and the plates, but no chairs.  Sean was looking at me weird, but I said this is tradition, please do not make fun of us.  I was trying so hard not to laugh.  Then my dad went back to the bedroom and got his Ireland flag and tied it around his head like a cape.  If this is not funny yet, just wait.  Then he took an Irish plaque from the wall and read it aloud to the whole family: mom, ashley, stefano, sean, and myself.  Afterward we all took hands around the table and started to walk clockwise around the table.  Then we let dad decide earlier what to say as a chant together, little did we know he would say something totally crazy.  He started to chant: "Weeeeeeeeee the little people" so as we were all holding hands we chanted 'wweeeeeeee the little people' over and over again until we went around the table a couple times.  We were all laughing so hard, we were crying.  Sean was really relieved to know this was a joke and not tradition.  The rest of the night, we would find my dad in another room yelling: "Weeeeeeeee the little people" and to this day it still brings a smile to my face.

There is never a dull moment with my family and I am so thankful for that.  I cannot wait to be in Seattle next year helping my mom prepare our St. Patrick's Day feast!

Happy St. Patricks Day everyone!

Rudy Wednesday

I just got back from a trip to Puyallup, WA for work.  We put on an Imagine U event at Rogers High School.  It was a lot of fun, but very tiring.  The event was successful, but I am very glad to be home.  At the SeaTac airport I saw this and almost died.  I had to have it!  I never see any pug stuff, and this is identical to Rudy.  It is a planter, or to put fake plants in.  LOVE IT.

my mom :)

I cannot believe that I am such a dork and posted Rudy Wednesday on Tuesday and no one called me out on it!

I am starting to get sick and it sucks because I am putting on this big event on Monday and need to be well for that.  I have a lot of women in my life that really care about me, and a lot of 'moms' at work that give me medicine and make sure I am doing okay.  But nothing beats my mom.  There is something special about having your mom take care of you and I will never get tired of my mom taking care of me.  I cannot wait to do that for my own children one day.  I feel like I do that with Rudy and I love taking care of my lil guy :).

I love my mom and am thankful that I take after her with many things.  Patience, kindness, loving...  She is amazing and I am blessed to be her daughter.
